I appreciate all the support over the last 2 years while setting up my new practice. I have had successful results with over 90-95% of my patients with disc injuries/ neck/ back pain in utilizing the DTS table as a stand alone treatment. I will be honest- it was a tough decision initially because of the financial investment/ commitment while I was starting practice. I am glad that I decided to integrate the DTS into my practice from the start because of the referrals and the wonderful response from my patients. Thanks again for all your help over the last 2 years and continued support.

Table Paper & Paper Products
GUIDE TO EXAM ROOM PAPER PRODUCTS
In addition to exam tables, medical exam table paper is widely used to protect numerous types of surfaces like massage tables, dentist instrument tables, physician’s room tables, and in this specific case, chiropractic chairs and adjustment tables. Essentially, medical exam paper can be used to cover any surface that will come into direct contact with a patient. Covering these surfaces protects the patient from any potentially harmful microorganisms or viruses that can be transferred from person to person through shared contact.
Exam table paper typically comes on a convenient roll that can be stored on a paper holder and easily accessed between patients. Headrest and face cradle paper covers are available on a roll or in a box for compact storage.
Before a client arrives, exam paper is simply rolled out to the necessary length required to cover the chiropractic table or treatment room equipment and cut to length. Once the chiropractic treatment is completed, disposable medical exam table paper is thrown away and replaced.
EXAMINING EXAM PAPER
Exam Table Paper Construction
Chiropractic exam table paper is constructed to be strong and absorbent. This type of paper is manufactured with the use of pulp fibers or old, recycled pulp. Due to its sturdy construction, medical exam paper is usually hard to tear. They may only be torn at an angle so that they can then be separated from the roll, as chiropractors will typically leave the paper attached until the examination is finished and the patient has left.
Some paper rolls may even be available with perforations so that they can be easily torn away after use. Other exam paper types may even be customized with entertaining print so that the chiropractic office has a less intimidating atmosphere for children and babies. All exam table paper rolls come in several different sizes and styles for whatever the office most needs.
Types of Exam Paper
There are two different types of medical exam table papers available for purchase at Scriphessco.com: smooth and crepe table paper.
Smooth table paper is glazed with a fine finish in order to help prevent moisture from penetrating the paper. It is more resistant to body moisture and gives off a more professional appearance for patients coming into the office.
Crepe paper, by contrast, has a paper-towel-like texture. It is typically the softer of the two and usually more comfortable for the patient to lay on. This type of paper also tends to be less noisy when the patient moves.
The specifications for both smooth and crepe paper are measured equally. The paper’s thickness is denoted in ‘ply’ figures (i.e., two-ply or four-ply) and is most commonly referred to as either ‘standard’ or ‘deluxe.’ The weight of the medical exam paper is generally represented in pounds and is directly related to the paper’s thickness and strength.
Selecting the Right Medical Exam Paper for My Practice
While the type of paper has little effect on pricing, medical exam paper with a lesser weight is typically more economical. As a rule, the heavier the weight of the paper, the higher the price will be as it will offer superior strength, more protection from viruses and bacteria, and increased absorbency.
Because smooth paper and crepe table paper both do an excellent job of protecting patients from cross-contamination, your personal preference between the two styles should be the biggest deciding factor for which you should buy.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How can you protect both your chiropractic table & patients?
Protecting your equipment and keeping it in the best shape as long as possible is a top priority. Preventing cross-contamination between patients and operating at the highest safety standards is also essential. Disposable exam table covers and face rest covers are the answer for both these aspects. On one hand, they protect the chiropractic table from dirt, oils, and bodily fluids. On the other, they keep the patients safer and more comfortable.
Note: The thicker the exam table paper, the higher the absorbency, and thus, the better the protection.
What is exam table paper made of?
Whether with a crepe or smooth finish, exam table paper is composed of wood pulp, just like regular paper. It often contains a large percentage of recycled pulp, which helps reduce the carbon footprint of this single-use product.
How do you properly drape a patient for an exam?
To provide privacy, a sterile operative field, and maintain patient dignity, draping is an essential part of preparing for a medical exam. Draping varies from one type of consult to another, as exposing certain body parts for a particular exam is necessary. The most difficult drapings are reported for pelvic and hip examinations, followed by respiratory and cardiovascular exams. In the latter case, for instance, it is not necessary for the patient to expose their entire chest at one time.
If only the lower or upper parts of the body need to be accessible, instruct the patient to remove his or her clothing from the area of the body to be treated, provide a drape sheet for the patient to cover up, and exit the room to allow the patient to prepare for the treatment. For full-body accessibility, consider giving the patient a reusable or disposable patient gown to change into. The idea goal is to keep the amount of skin exposed at a minimum at all times by skillfully using a combination of gowns and drape sheets.
What is the difference between crepe and smooth table paper?
All types of chiropractic table paper protect the table from moisture and dirt, eliminating linen and laundry costs. Smooth exam table paper ensures comfort by resisting crumpling and wrinkling, while paper with a crepe finish makes for a quieter product. The textured surface of crepe paper also ensures added durability and absorbency.
How do I properly use headrest paper?
For most chiropractic and exam tables, you can use these steps to install the chiropractic table face paper rolls:
- Loosen up the paper roll bar on the table, insert it through a face paper roll and reattach it firmly to the table.
- Pull the end of the paper roll over half of the headrest, pass it under the support in the middle, then over the other half of the headrest, and rip it on the cutting edge.
Depending on the table, you can also use fitted face rest covers, pierced nurse's caps, or ScripHessco economy headrest squares with face slots.
Can you reuse exam table paper?
Besides protecting the exam table and maintaining a cleaner surface, chiropractic table paper also reduces the risk of cross-contamination of bacteria and viruses between clients/patients. For these reasons, exam table paper is labeled as disposable and should never be reused.
Where is the best place to buy exam table paper?
Whether you are going for Economy or Premium, ScripHessco.com offers a wide selection of exam table paper.
